Chisholm Trail 150th has come and gone …

Well – we can’t thank everyone who was a part of this year’s Trails, Rails and Tales event – celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Chisholm Trail’s first load of cattle to leave Abilene (1867). The weekend was full of music, fun, food, dancing, events, horses, longhorns and so much more. Although the Historic Abilene, Inc board was not the entity in charge of this event, we were a big part of it because it was on our Old Abilene Town property.

Two thoughts for this most Monday-like Tuesday ever:

1. Thank you to the visitors (from both near and far) who helped make the event a success. Without you here in our community, our tourist attractions wouldn’t thrive like they do.

2. To those that have fond memories of Old Abilene Town and want to see it like it used to be – WE ARE WITH YOU! Help us out, whether it’s volunteering or becoming a member or just donating … it takes time, people and money (which we have a limited supply of). So we’re there with you, we want to make this one of the best attractions in Abilene. So let us know if you want to help – we’ll gladly accept it!

Now – get back to work everyone … but don’t forget that there will be an Oktoberfest event on Saturday, September 30th at the Alamo Saloon.
